Last chance for Great North Run 2025 sign-ups as January ballot opens
The January ballot for the Great North Run 2025 has opened.
The "world’s biggest half marathon" will return to the North East on Sunday 7 September 2025, and this ballot is a final opportunity to secure a place.
Keen runners looking to take on the challenge can enter from Monday 6 January 2025 at 10am until Wednesday 15 January 2025 at 2pm.
The 2025 event saw a change in how applications work, with a ballot window opening in September for the first time.
Paul Foster, Chief Executive of the Great Run Company, said: "We're excited to open the January ballot and begin the countdown for the 44th Great North Run.
"We’re looking forward to celebrating tens of thousands of incredible runners from across the country and the globe, as they achieve personal goals and raise much needed funds for good causes.
"Each year we’re amazed how the whole of the North East gets behind and celebrates the event to create a truly special occasion. I encourage everyone to enter the January Ballot for the chance to experience the incredible atmosphere and roaring crowd support for themselves.
"The event is going from strength to strength and plans are very much underway to make this year’s event the best yet. To everyone entering the ballot, I wish you the best of luck!"
Around 60,000 entrants cross the start line in Newcastle, with many taking part to support good causes, raising an estimated £25 million for charity.
The January ballot will be drawn shortly after closing with all successful applicants receiving an email to confirm their place.
