Man seriously injured in a suspected shooting in Hartlepool

A man has been left seriously injured with suspected gun shot wounds in Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police say an incident took place on Garside Drive on the afternoon of Thursday 2 January.

An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances that led to the alleged shooting at around 4:15pm.

The force has said detectives are conducting enquiries at a number of addresses across the town, and there will be an increased officer presence in the area.

While police say they do not believe there is any threat to the wider public at this time, local residents are encouraged to speak to officers if they have any concerns.
