With the withdrawal of the Saudi-backed takeover many Newcastle United fans have turned their attention to reports about another offer for the club.

In June it was reported that American businessman Henry Mauriss was believed to have lodged a formal offer to buy Newcastle United for £350m.

Mr Mauriss is the chief executive officer of ClearTV Media, which is based in California. It provides television platforms which broadcast in locations like airports and healthcare facilities as well as through websites.

He also set up the Credit America Corporation in the 1990s, a credit and debt-management firm which aims to help people repair their credit ratings.

Online profiles also say he is a Major League Baseball fan. He is reported to have praised the link-up between Liverpool and John W. Henry and The Fenway Group who run Boston Red Sox.
