Good samaritan helps police snare two suspected thieves in Gateshead
A good samaritan has helped police snare two suspected thieves in Gateshead.
Police received a call from a member of the public who had confronted a thief in Blaydon at about 11.45pm on July 22. They reported that a man and a woman had been stripping a car of its parts on Chainbridge Road.Emergency services were dispatched to the scene while the good samaritan remained in the area to provide officers with descriptions of the suspects.A 28-year-old woman was arrested within minutes of the call.A male suspect had fled the scene through dense woodland and over a live railway line.Searches were conducted in the area and at about 5am a 36-year-old man was arrested.
A senior officer has praised the member of the public who made the call.
