Newcastle head coach Steve Bruce is facing an injury headache as he attempts to put together a team to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Miguel Almiron, Alan Saint-Maximin and Andy Carroll are all doubts, while midfielders Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff are nursing hamstring problem following a testing restart after lockdown.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Bruce said: "Unfortunately, we have picked up one or two.

"But I suspect most of the Premier League will be thinking exactly the same. When we're approaching the fifth and sixth game, then obviously it's going to take its toll.

"Isaac and Sean Longstaff are possibly our fittest players and unfortunately they have picked up soft tissue injuries, so we've got a few problems.

"But then again, I'm sure most others have as well at this particular time."

Newcastle take on Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium, on Wednesday evening. Kick off is at 18:00.
