New jobs service in County Durham to help people affected by Covid-19 economic impact
A new service to help people whose jobs have been affected by coronavirus has been launched in County Durham.
It will also seek to support regional employers.
The County Durham Jobs Fuse is a joint service, created by Durham County Council, the National Careers Service and the Department for Work and Pensions.
It will aim to connect employers, who have urgent vacancies needing filled, with people in the area who are available to start work.

The service will work to support people in the region who have lost their jobs or whose jobs have been adversely affected by coronavirus.
It will also offer careers advice and practical guidance on CV writing and access to training.
Cllr Carl Marshall, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said: “We understand thatmany people are concerned about the impact of coronavirus and we want to do everythingwe can to support those who have been adversely affected, which is why we’re pleased tohave helped launch County Durham Jobs Fuse.
“This will provide much needed support to employers and help people across the countyget back into work at this challenging time.”
Leanne Misaljevich, area manager for the National Careers Service in North East andCumbria said: “We face hugely uncertain times and in response to this we are delighted tobe working with DWP and Durham County Council to form the County Durham Jobs Fuse."
