Hundreds benefit from £3.2m emergency COVID-19 funding from Arts Council England

The Arts Council has announced that £3.2 million has been awarded to 470 individuals and independent organisations across the North East to help them cope with losses due to COVID-19.

The Arts Council’s Emergency Response Package aims to help with pressures faced by artists, creative practitioners, arts organisations, museums, and libraries over the summer.

Across the North, over £537,600 has been awarded to individuals from a BAME background, with £614,300 directly supporting Deaf or disabled applicants.

Among the successful applicants was Company of Others in Newcastle, which co-creates dance experiences with diverse communities. It delivered activities to 3,400 participants across the North East last year and will use the emergency funding to support its survival.
