Man dies after being found seriously injured by police inside a car in Thornaby

A police investigation is underway after the death of man found "seriously injured" inside a silver BMW on Teesside on Friday.

It happened on Trenchard Avenue in Thornaby at around 2.20pm.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and established that a man, aged in his 40s, had sustained significant injury as a result of being assaulted.

The man, who hasn't been identified, died at the scene.

Cleveland Police say specialist officers are supporting family members of the deceased man and added: "Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time".

Officers are currently patrolling the Thornaby area for increased reassurance to the community.

Cleveland Police are appealing for any person with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage which may assist their investigation, to make contact urgently on 101 - quoting reference 077823.
