Durham singer raises thousands for PPE with care home sing-a-long tour

A Durham singer has raised thousands of pounds to fund PPE supplies by singing to care home residents and staff from their car parks.

Former X Factor contestant Emily Scott, 30, toured nine care homes across the North East and has so far raised £3,800 with her sponsored sing-a-long.

Emily shared her talent at care homes in Durham, Hartlepool, Billingham, Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland, Newcastle, Whitley Bay and Blyth.

Emily, who made it to The X Factor live shows in 2008 with female quartet Bad Lashes, ensured she stuck to social distancing rules.

Emily was asked by healthcare recruiter Medsolve UK to take part in the scare home visits. The company was looking at ways to help the homes after seeing first hand how difficult the coronavirus crisis has been for some.

Emily said it was an honour to sing for the residents and staff, adding that music is her way of thanking the people fighting for us on the frontline.
