Nissan suspends production until further notice

Nissan has announced it's suspending production at it's Sunderland factory until further notice, due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The car giant announced on Tuesday that it was pausing manufacturing for the rest of the week - but that is set to continue until further notice.

  • Unite national officer for the automotive sector Steve Bush said:

The company, which employs around 7,000 people at Sunderland, and supports thousands of more jobs in the supply chain, said it had suffered disruption to its supply chains and a drop in market demand, caused by the Covid-19 emergency.
