Three arrests made in Naheed Khan murder investigation

Detectives have made two arrests as they continue to investigate the murder of a missing 43-year-old woman from Teesside.

Naheed Khan, from Thornaby, has been missing since May 2018. Police believe she has been murdered and launched a murder investigation in January 2019.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and for conspiring to prevent a lawful and decent burial.

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of committing an act/ series of acts with intent to pervert the course of justice and for conspiring to prevent a lawful and decent burial.

A third man, arrested in February 2019, has been arrested again this afternoon on suspicion of murder & for conspiring to prevent a lawful & decent burial.

Detectives from Cleveland Police released the following timeline in an effort to trace Ms Khan.

May 4th 2018

  • 1am - 1:30am: Potential sighting of Naheed on Linthorpe Road at the junction with Southfield Road and Princes Road.

  • 5.33pm: Naheed's bank account was accessed at the Barclays cash machine at Asda Thornaby.

  • 9:30pm: Potential sighting of Naheed near to the ROAB (Buffs) Club on Wilton Street in Middlesbrough.

  • 11:10pm: Potential witness sighting by a taxi driver picking up a fare on Angle Street going to Wicklow Street in Middlesbrough.

May 6th 2018

  • 2:24am: Naheed's bank account was accessed at the Post Office at Park Lane Garage in Middlesbrough.

  • 5:04pm: Naheed's bank account was accessed at the cash machine outside Adils Pizzeria at the junction between Marton Road and Southfield Road in Middlesbrough.Police say there is no evidence to suggest the bank account was accessed by anyone other than Naheed. However, they are remaining open-minded as they are unable to confirm it was absolutely her.

Background

Naheed was reported missing to police on June 12th 2018.

At a press conference, on January 28th last year, the senior officer leading the case announced the case was being treated as suspected murder.

On 15 March 2019, the search for Naheed focused on a disused underground carpark on Marton Road in Middlesbrough.

Police believe Ms Khan may have travelled in the vehicle at the end of April to early May 2018.

Ms Khan has links to Stockton, Middlesbrough and Thornaby. She is described as Asian, of slim build and around 5'6" tall with long dark hair.
