New office block to transform Newcastle Quayside

Plans for a new office development on the Newcastle Quayside that would transform the city's skyline have been released.

No 1 Quayside is being hailed as the third modern icon in Newcastle/Gateshead, alongside Sir Norman Foster's The Sage and Wilkinson Eyre's Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Designed by award-winning architects BIG - Bjarke Ingle's Group, who are renowned for their cutting edge designs, No 1 Quayside will have more than 100,000 sq ft of office space.

Built on a disused site on City Road, the office block has the potential to create 1,000 jobs.

The curved building will have a living, green roof and each floor is designed to have its own private roof garden. All floors will have unobstructed views of the River Tyne.
