Two patients treated in Newcastle for Coronavirus released from RVI

Two people being treated at Newcastle's RVI hospital after contracting the Coronavirus have been released from hospital.

The pair - who are Chinese nationals and members of the same family - were being cared for in a specialist infectious disease unit. They were admitted more than a fortnight ago after staying at this aparthotel in York. One is a student at York University.

The two are amongst eight people who have now been discharged after twice testing negative for coronavirus.

It comes on the day it was announced the last of the guests staying at Arrowe Park after returning from China have left the hospital, NHS England and NHS Improvement announced today.

Jeff Siddle, from Prudhoe in Northumberland, was amongst those released today.

Mr Siddle, his wife Sindy and daughter Jasmine came back to the UK earlier this month on an evacuation flight and have since been in isolation at the hospital on Merseyside.

The family have now been allowed to come home to the Tyne Valley.
