As the country gets ready to go to polls, our Political Correspondent Martin Stew has been out and about taking the region’s political temperature.
In Hartlepool, where 70% of voters backed Leave, the incumbent Labour MP Mike Hill is facing a determined challenge from Richard Tice of the Brexit Party.
Hill’s majority is a healthy 7,500, but Hartlepool is one of the Brexit Party’s big target seats.
