Killers Middlesbrough gig tickets up for re-sale for almost £600 after sell out

Tickets for the Killers have gone up for re-sale for almost £600 each online after selling out in just 20 minutes.

The US rock act are playing Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium next June on their Imploding the Mirage tour.

The concert is the band’s only gig in the North-east and the final one of their UK tour.

Tickets went on sale at 9am on Friday and sold out in less than half an hour.

Standing tickets appeared to go first, selling out in about 12 minutes while the more expensive seated tickets went soon after.

There was a mixture of joy and frustration among those who had bagged tickets and those who missed out.

One happy fan said: "I’m so chuffed I managed to get two tickets after about 30 minutes of queuing on the See Tickets website.

“I really didn’t think I’d get any as they sold out straight away on Ticketmaster. I’m in the hubby’s good books!”

Within half an hour, tickets had appeared on secondary tickets websites selling at £595 each if you wanted five seated tickets together.Single standing tickets - with a face value of £72 - were going for as much as £160 on secondary sites.

Unlucky fans were also soon appealing for tickets on social media.

The band hail from Las Vegas and are led by singer Brandon Flowers.

They have enjoyed global fame since releasing their debut album Hot Fuss in 2004, which includes hits such as Smile Like You Mean It and Somebody Told Me.

The band’s most recent album Wonderful, Wonderful in 2017 was their fifth consecutive record to go number one in the UK.

It is expected to bring in more than 30,000 concert goers from in and out of the region, potentially bigger than Take That and contributing £1m to the local economy.
