Newcastle's Kingston Park Stadium to host 2021 Rugby League World Cup games

Kingston Park has been unveiled as the third North East venue to host the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

The stadium, which is the home of Newcastle Thunder and Newcastle Falcons, will welcome crowds for three men’s fixtures, replacing West Cumbria’s Allerdale Stadium, following the local council’s decision to withdraw their bid to host matches.

The Rugby League World Cup is the most high-profile ruby league competition in the world.

The North East will host men’s fixtures at the Riverside Stadium inMiddlesbrough and St James Park, as well as at Kingston Park.

The opening ceremony is to be held at St James’ Park.

Kingston Park has a capacity of 10,200-capacity. It opened in 1990 and has been home to Newcastle Thunder since 2015.

The Rugby League World Cup is being hosted at 21 venues throughout England.

All 31 games in the men’s competition will be broadcast live, while the women’s and wheelchair competitions will be available to watch free online.
