Elmo the emu makes himself at home

When you think of 'household pets' dogs and cats are where most of us draw the line.

But one North East family have opened their home to an animal more used to the Australian outback - and he's taken a liking to his more luxurious habitat.

Fortunately his future is safe - when he is big enough he will be joining the other emus at Whitehouse Farm in Morpeth.
