North East names recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list
The Queen's Birthday Honours list 2019 has been announced.
Honours recipients are announced twice a year, once in the New Year's Honours List, and once on The Queen's official birthday.
Most honours are awarded on the advice of the Cabinet Office, and anybody can make a recommendation if they know someone they believe to be worthy.
The recipients will travel to Buckingham Palace for the ceremony.
Alexander Peter Duguid, who works here at ITV Tyne Tees with the SignPost team, has also been awarded for services to deaf people and British Sign Language education.
Alex said he wasn't expecting to receive such a letter in the post.
Mike Barton, who has stepped down as Durham Constabulary's Chief Constable has been honoured by Her Majesty The Queen for services to policing.
The 62-year-old officer stepped down after a 39-year career in uniform. He has been awarded a CBE.
