A 15-year-old girl who died after collapsing in a Northallerton car park has been named by police as Leah Heyes.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old have now been arrested and released while under investigation in connection with her death.

Officers have not ruled out making further arrests as the investigation continues.

A post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of her death.

Police believe that Leah had taken the drug MDMA - also known as ecstasy or a "bomb" - prior to collapsing.

A concerned member of the public contacted police at 9.30pm Saturday 11 May 2019 to report that a girl had collapsed in Applegarth Car Park in Northallerton. Police and Ambulance Services attended the scene and the girl was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, where she very sadly later died.

Officers have issued warning to anyone who has purchased this drug recently to be cautious and aware of the potential consequences of taking the drug.
