Below is a list of contact details for urgent mental support in the North East region.
If you feel like harming or hurting yourself or other people, you should call 999 or go to your nearest Accident and Emergency (A&E) department.
For non-emergency situations, you can visit your GP or call NHS 111, where a trained nurse can give you advice.
If you have a mental health problem and are experiencing a mental health crisis, you can contact your local NHS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service

Samaritans provide confidential, non-judgemental emotional support for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair. Call 116 123 (freephone, landlines and mobile) or email jo@samaritans.org.
PAPYRUS is the national UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Call 0800 068 41 41 (Monday to Friday 10am-5pm and 7pm-10pm/weekends 2pm-5pm), text 07786 209697 or email pat@papyrus-uk.org.
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a male suicide prevention charity. Call 0800 585858 (every day 5pm–midnight). A web char service is also available.
Rethink aims to make sure everyone severely affected by mental illness has a good quality of life. Call 0300 5000 927 (Monday to Friday 10am-2pm, not including bank holidays).
SANE runs a national, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and Carers. Call 0300 304 7000 (every day 6pm-11pm).
