Father of Alice Ruggles continues creating a lasting legacy for his daughter
Since their daughter was murdered in 2016, the parents of Alice Ruggles have dedicated their lives to raising awareness about the danger of stalking.
Alice was killed by her ex-boyfriend, Trimaan Dhillon, who bombarded her with messages and threatened her safety.
24-year-old Alice was stabbed to death in her own home. She had previously contacted Northumbria Police about Dhillon's behaviour but opted to not have him arrested. In the weeks leading up to her death, Dhillon made three uninvited 240 mile round trips from his barracks in Glencorse, near Edinburgh, to Alice’s Gateshead home.
Alice's death exposed inconsistencies about how police forces deal with stalking complaints.
Now, Alice's father Clive has visited officers at Durham Constabulary, to check on the changes to the protocol that he helped implement.
He and his wife have worked tirelessly through their Trust to help police forces recognise traits of stalking and give training to frontline officers who may be first responders.
