Church hall left 'unsafe' after suffering major damage in crash
A road through a South Tyneside village has been closed after concerns about the safety of a building that's been severely damaged after a crash.
St.Anne's Parish Hall, on the A1018 Sunderland Road in Cleadon, is currently cordoned off while damage is assessed.
Police say a car hit the building around 2am this morning (31st March) and the people in the car fled the scene.
Northumbria Police say no-one was injured and no arrests have been made.
Their inquiries are continuing.
