A flotilla of 20 fishing vessels left North Shields this morning to sail the River Tyne as part of a campaign to ensure a swift Brexit.

'Fishing for Leave' was set up by fishermen who believe the terms of Theresa May's current Withdrawal Deal are "an existential threat to fishing and a total betrayal of Brexit and Britain." They say it's "the second surrender of our industry and coastal communities".

However, their parade on the River Tyne was met by a host of pro-EU campaigners on the Quayside, some of whom waved flags from the Millenium Bridge.

Nigel Farage MEP and the leaders of the Leave Means Leave campaign joined Brexit supporters on Wearside, for the ‘March To Leave’ walk - a trail which takes them from Sunderland to Westminster.

Campaigners are due to arrive in the capital on March 29, the day Britain is supposed to leave the EU.
