Man arrested on suspicion of murdering missing grandmother Naheed Khan

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a much-loved Grandmother who was last seen in May.

Cleveland Police said a 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Naheed Khan, 43, from Thornaby, Teesside.

No body has been found but last month officers announced that they were treating the case as a murder, saying Ms Khan's mobile phone and bank account have not been used since she was last seen almost 10 months ago in Middlesbrough.

The force said officers were at an address in Angle Street, Middlesbrough, in connection with the arrest.

Detectives continue to appeal for information about Ms Khan's last movements and described her as around 5ft 6in and slim, and of Asian appearance with long, dark hair.

At a news conference last month, her daughter Amber said Ms Khan had missed the birth of her first grandchild in the months she has been missing.
