ITV News Tyne Tees has taken the News Programme of the Year title at the Royal Television Society (RTS) North East and the Border Awards.

This is the third year in a row that ITV News Tyne Tees has taken this award and capped off a successful night for the region.

Our weather presenter Ross Hutchinson won the Presenter of the Year prize.

Tom Sheldrick, our education and social affairs correspondent, took home the Outstanding Journalism title. Another of our reporters, Katie Cole, was also nominated for this award.

ITV Tyne Tees and the BBC were also awarded with specially commissioned glass plates from the National Glass Centre to recognise our 60th anniversaries.

Tim Goodhill, an editor for ITV Tyne Tees, won the award for Short Form Content for his film 'Blood Steel' (Cassini Films).

Our colleagues at SignPost, which produces British Sign Language translated television programming, picked up the Centre Award, decided upon by the RTS Committee. Giles Bowman, who works for SignPost, won the Rising Star prize.

There was also success for North East-set drama Vera, which won the Judges' Award and also saw Patrick Bill take home the award for Production Design.
