North Shields musician Sam Fender has been named winner of the BRITs Critics' Choice Award.

He's had a busy year of shows and promotion, including his regular features on Radio 1 and his appearance on Later... With Jools Holland. Sam's fan base is growing daily and he's just sold out his first headline UK tour.

The 24 year old is in good company. Previous winners include Adele, Jessie J, Florence & the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith.
