New trial to offer free rail services for jobseekers travelling to interviews
A new trial is hoping to make it easier for job seekers on Teesside to apply for jobs further afield without the barrier of travel costs.
As part of the six-month trial scheme, people who are currently out of work but looking for employment can use Northern rail services to travel to job interviews for free.
The offer is open to all job seekers in Redcar and Cleveland applying via the Council and must be organised in advance.
Councillor Craig Hannaway, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, said:
They will receive a pass permitting one return journey on Northern Railway services between their home and their interview location on the date of their interview.
