Darlington and Middlesbrough House of Fraser stores to stay open

The House of Fraser stores in both Darlington and Middlesbrough are to stay open, saving more than 100 jobs.

Both stores had been earmarked for closure earlier this year when the retailer agreed a Company Voluntary Agreement with several of its landlords.

This month though the retailer went into administration and was then taken over by Sports Direct, run by Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, who said he wanted to "keep as many stores open as possible".
