Darron Gibson admits to drink-driving charge
Former Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson has admitted to drink-driving during a brief appearance at South Tyneside Magistrates Court.
The court heard how he was three times over the drink-drive limit when he smashed his Mercedes into parked cars on St Patrick's Day.
Gibson, whose contract with Sunderland was terminated when he was charged, had been on his way to the club's training ground when he crashed into parked cars in Dovedale Road, Fulwell.
The prosecution said that Gibson, 30, had a previous conviction for drink-driving and driving without due care and attention in September 2015.
