Petition for safety barriers along canal breaks 50,000 mark
The family of a man who died after falling in a canal say they're delighted that a petition in his name has reached over 50,000 signatures.
19-year-old Charlie Pope from Ponteland was a student at Manchester University. He died after going missing on a night out.
His family and friends started the campaign calling for permanent barriers at the waterside.
