Huge fire destroys derelict Gateshead building
Firefighters have spent the night tackling a huge fire at a derelict property in Gateshead.
A number of fire appliances were on the scene at Joicey Road in Low Fell, which runs between the A617 Durham Road and alongside Gateshead Rugby Football Club.
It is not yet known whether anyone has been injured in the fire, although the fire service said it was a derelict building.
The fire is now under control and the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service tweeted to say that the incident had been "scaled down to 3 appliances and an aerial ladder. Crews in the process of dampening down".
