Hannah Hauxwell, a North Yorkshire farmer who became famous in a series of ITV documentaries, has died at the age of 91.

A series of films, first shown in the 1970's, showed the hardships she faced as a female farmer living alone in in her isolated farmhouse in the Dales.

Miss Hauxwell passed away in a nursing home in Barnard Castle last night.
