Man charged with murder after Chester-le-Street man dies 11 days after attack

A man has been charged with the murder of another man who died following an assault in Chester-le-Street.

Michael Price suffered critical head injuries after he was attacked in theVictor Street area, in the early hours of Saturday January, 13.

The 36-year-old, from Chester-le-Street, was taken to the Royal VictoriaInfirmary in Newcastle for treatment.

He died from his injuries on Wednesday 24, January - 11 days after theassault.

Paul Ronald Watson, 30, of The Crescent, Chester-le-Street, has beencharged with murder and remanded in police custody.

He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Two women aged 35 and 36 who were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident, have been rearrested on suspicion of murder.

They have both been released under investigation.
