Freedom City celebrations draw to a close with procession over Tyne Bridge
Commemorations have taken place to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's visit to Newcastle.
The civil rights leader made the trip to the North East in 1967 to receive an honorary doctorate from Newcastle University.
On Sunday, the Tyne Bridge was closed to allow a actors and members of the public to re-enact a freedom march.
It is the first time the iconic bridge has played host to a performance of this kind.
Processions took place across the city as part of the Freedom on the Tyne event.
