Students accused of wasting NHS' time after 'ambulance chart' challenge
An investigation has been launched by York University after claims that students are 'wasting NHS time'.
The accusations come after reports of students tallying how many times they can require medical attention during freshers' week.
The charts were allegedly pinned up in University halls of residence and used to log how many ambulance trips they have had.
According to student newspaper, The Tab, one ambulance was called out to a fresher who needed emergency root canal treatment after getting into a fight on a night out.
Another ambulance was called to a student who dislocated his shoulder after jumping from a 15ft wall. The student in question allegedly misjudged a shortcut when walking home after a night out.
When taken to hospital the student was placed in a bed next to his flatmate who was being treated for alcohol poisoning.
The Ambulance Service trust for the region has also urged students to act responsibly.
