Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles signs new contract with the club.

The contract will see the skipper stay at St. James’ Park until June 2023.

Lascelles was handed the armband by Rafa Benítez ahead of last season’s Championship-winning campaign, and has already headed two winning goals for the Magpies in their first season back in the Premier League.

Born in Derby, the defender linked up with Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in 2014, spending a further year at the City Ground on loan before returning to Tyneside ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

So far, he has made 75 appearances for United in all competitions, finding the net seven times.
