The Home Secretary has been on a visit to Durham to visit the police force.

Amber Rudd was joined by the Minister for Policing and the Fire Service Nick Hurd, who were both met by Chief Constable Mike Barton and Police, Crime and Victims' Commissioner Ron Hogg at the forces' Aykley Heads headquarters.

Both were shown how Durham, the top performing force in the country, is tackling cybercrime and also safeguarding vulnerable people.

They were also introduced to a number of projects including Checkpoint - which offers those charged with offences usually dealt with by magistrates the chance to avoid a criminal conviction by making amends to the community and their victims.
