About a year ago I was diagnosed with a Melanoma which is something that can be life threatening if it's not caught early.

I wanted to tell my story in the hope it will encourage you to look at your skin for new moles or anything unusual.

My report also tells you about new research by scientists in Newcastle that could save millions of lives by changing the way some skin cancers are treated.

Yes, Pam will be telling her story about her Melanoma and we'll tell you how to spot one.

Every year 17,000 people in the UK have a melanoma.

A third of them - around 5,700 will see the cancer spread to other parts of the body. 2,500 people a year die because of melanomas.

The good news is, the revolutionary research I found out about during my treatment, could change those numbers in the future.
