More than 200 officers and ratings from Sunderland's adopted warship HMS Ocean have paraded through the city centre. HMS Ocean, which is currently berthed at the Port of Sunderland, is on her final visit to the city. She has a dedicated public open day on Sunday 9 July from 11am to 6pm.

Visitors wishing to see HMS Ocean and meet the ship's crew are advised to use city centre parking and walk to the Low Street pedestrian entrance to the port.

The ship and its crew were granted the Freedom of Sunderland in 2005

giving them the honour of parading and bearing arms as they marched.
