Tour de Yorkshire: "We could bring race further north"
Organisers of the the Tour de Yorkshire say the race could come further north after interest from County Durham and Redcar and Cleveland.
Sir Gary Verity, the chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, says they've had interest from both within and outside Yorkshire.
Sir Gary also says his team want to extend the race from three to four days. He says the timings fit with the race calendar globally and there will be a formal announcement in September.
"We're working hard to get the race to four days - a two day women's race and a four-day men's race, which would be a real achievement for the county. It can have a greater economic impact, it can be more global showcasing of Yorkshire."
"That would be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - so the proposed dates for next year are the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of May."
