Durham University keeps place in world's top 100
Durham University has retained its place as one of the world's top 100 universities, dropping four places to 78th in the latest international league table.
York and Newcastle are again in the leading 200 universities, while Northumbria is also included in the table of 959 institutions compiled by QS.
The rankings are based on: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation.

University of York
Last year: 127th
This year: Joint 135th - level with historical rival Lancaster
Newcastle University
Last year: 168th
This year: Joint 161st - level with National Tsing Hua University in China
Northumbria University
Last year: Between 701st and 916th
This year: Between 751st and 800th
Cambridge, Oxford, University College London and Imperial College London are all in the world's top 10 universities, but dozens of British institutions have fallen in the rankings.
