North East NHS trauma centres told to be prepared for terror attack
The Great North Trauma and Emergency Centre at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary and the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough are among 27 NHS sites across the country that have been told to prepare for a possible terrorist attack this Bank Holiday weekend.
The warning from NHS England comes two days after Theresa May raised the UK's terror threat level to "critical".
NHS England say this is standard practice.
Meanwhile, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Foundation Trust provided ITV News Tyne Tees with this update.
