Police appeal for good samaritans after Newcastle rape
Northumbria Police are continuing to appeal for four good Samaritans to come forward following a rape in Newcastle. Three men and a taxi driver took a woman home in the early hours of 19 May.
The men, aged in their early 20s, helped a woman who is also in her 20s, get a taxi near to Newcastle Sixth Form College in the city centre. It's believed the men could have been visiting from Scotland.
It's believed the woman had been raped by a man at an address in a nearby street. A 51-year-old man has been arrested and has been released under investigation.
It was originally thought the taxi driver had been in contact with police but enquiries have established that's not the case and officers are still keen for him to get in contact as a witness.
The taxi driver and men who helped the victim, or anyone else with information that can help with the investigation, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 439 190517 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
