Bradley Lowery, the North East youngster who has touched hearts across the nation through his brave battle with terminal cancer has scooped a prize at the Pride of the North East awards.

The schoolboy was honoured at the very first Pride of the North East awards that were held at the Civic Centre in Newcastle.

It has been a buy week for the youngster, he celebrated his sixth birthday on Wednesday with a tea party at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The youngster from Blackhall attended the ceremony with his idol, Jermain Defoe.

But the Sunderland striker wasn't the only famous face to walk the red carpet.

Fresh from the cobbles, Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh also attended the awards.

Former Geordie Shore star and 2015 Queen of the Jungle Vicky Pattison was also there along with her boyfriend John Noble.

From the Yorkshire Dales to Newcastle, Emmerdale actor John Middleton who played Ashley Thomas in the long running soap joined Bradley and Jermain at the star-studded ceremony.

Along with former co-star Natalie Anderson who wore a sparkly number for the glitzy event.

Natalie is best known for her roles as Alicia Metcalfe in Emmerdale and Stella Davenport in medical drama The Royal.
