Denise Welch's short film to be shown at California festival

North East actress Denise Welch is starring in a psychological drama about a woman trapped in her home by a teenage boy, intent on driving her to suicide.

Black Eyed Susanis written and directed by Nick Rowntree - originally from Teesside - and produced by Denise Welch, making her production debut. The film will be shown at the Silicon Beach Film Festival.

Her youngest son Louis Healy stars alongside Kacey Ainsworth and Angela Lonsdale. Denise's eldest son, Matthew Healy - lead singer of The 1975 - wrote the soundtrack.

Denise is an advocate for mental health awareness and regularly promotes related charities and initiatives.
