Paul Gascoigne's sister talks of family grief a year on from son's death

Paul Gascoigne and his family were left devastated last April after his nephew, Jay Kerrigan was found dead following an overdose.

Jay had been using prescription medicine to try to ease the effects of his mental illness.

Like Gazza, Jay had his own mental health issues. Since the age of twelve, he had been in and out of the mental health system.

When Jay turned 16 his mother says the level of care he received sharply reduced.

In the years that followed, he became traumatised by destructive thoughts, and by age 22 he was driven to purchase prescription medicine online.

Jay died of a fatal overdose in April 2016.

His family have set up a campaign to fund specialist mental health support for young people and adults in his memory.
