East Cleveland the setting for new elite cycle race

A new elite cycle race is taking place in the North East on Sunday.

The East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix will kick off the opening round of the British Cycling HSBC Spring Cup.

The race will depart from Market Place in Guisborough at midday.

The main circuit picks up at Boosebeck with three circuits of 25 miles each and a shorter lap, before the riders return to Guisborough for the finish.

Many of the 140 top-level cyclists will be using the East Cleveland Klondike GP to get practice on the region’s roads prior to the Tour de Yorkshire at the end of April.

The finish line will be at Westgate Guisborough, in front of Sunnyfield House, where large crowds are expected to gather.
