Newcastle United legend Kevin Keegan records new version of World Cup song for the Northern Special Olympics team
Newcastle United legend Kevin Keegan has helped the Special Olympics Northern Region team record a rendition of 'This Time, We'll Get It Right'.
The song was originally written and recorded as the England football team's official 1982 World Cup campaign song but Kevin returned to Gateshead to record a new version with Special Olympic athletes.
Kevin was captain of England’s 1982 World Cup squad and at the very heart of singing the song the first time around. When he heard about the new recording from his friend and former manager, Lawrie McMenemy, Kevin was keen to lend his support.
The song will be played as the Northern Region team enter Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium for the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in August.
Special Olympics Gateshead Tyne and Wear is part of the Northern region team going to Sheffield and is one of 141 Special Olympics clubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
