Strong showing for North East acts at Brit Awards
The nominees have been announced for this year's Brit Awards. Now, the artists and their fans have to wait to find out who will be crowned winners.
It's a strong night for the North East. James Arthur, from Saltburn is up for two gongs. Little Mix, famously 50% South Shields, are up for three awards - and The 1975, whose frontman Matt Healy is the son of Geordie actors Tim Healy and Denise Welsh, could take two awards.
JAMES ARTHUR
James has made his name as the 'Comeback Kid' following his successful re-launch. Say You Won't Let Go was well received, and so were the record sales after Syco took another chance on him! James has said he cannot believe he is even involved in the Brits this year, never mind nominated.

LITTLE MIX
The girls are going from strength to strength. Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, both from South Tyneside, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock make up the four-piece act. The girls found fame on The X Factor in 2011. The group's 2016 fourth studio album Glory Days became their first number one album in the UK and was also the longest reigning girl group 'Number 1' since the Spice Girls' debut album 20 years ago. They've just toured with Ariana Grande and the girls thank their 'Mixers' for their success.
