Lightweight sandbags handed out to flood risk areas in North Yorkshire

Cllr Robson with Hambleton District Council Street Scene Officer, Alan Scargill, delivering FloodSax Credit: Hambleton District Council

Parishes across Hambleton, North Yorkshire which have experienced flooding are being given lightweight alternatives to sandbags from the district council.

Over 2000 FloodSax sandbags have been handed out to communities at risk of rising water levels.

The lightweight bags make it easier for residents living in homes in flood risk areas to store and move around.

Areas such as Brompton, Dalton and Great Langton are among those to have received the flood defences.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Mark Robson:

The district council will continue to make traditional sandbags available to residents who are at risk of immediate flooding.
